Durfee Chorus

Grades 10-12 full year, 5 days a week

Prerequisite: Teacher or Director Recommendation Only
Note: This course may be repeated for credit.
This full-year course is open to juniors and seniors who have successfully participated in the Mixed Chorus class. Students are to take on leadership roles within the class as designated by the teacher. They will participate in research-based projects, including class presentations and written reports. Ensemble performing and audition for an adjudicated competition is required.

 

Grades 9-12 full year, 5 days a week

Mixed Chorus is a full-year course for students who want to sing in a large group and perform a variety of styles of choral music. Students sing in 3 or 4 voice parts and are graded heavily on effort and participation within the class. The chorus performs several concerts and other community events throughout the year that are all required and graded.

The Select Chorus is an after-school vocal ensemble made up of students chosen through audition or teacher recommendation. Members rehearse weekly to develop advanced vocal technique, musicianship, and ensemble skills while preparing high-quality performances. They perform with the Mixed Chorus at both concerts and perform as a show choir for the Spring Concert.
